Mike Sweeney

Commercial Ethnographer

Insatiably curious, incredibly caring, generous of spirit, and a remarkable storyteller are just a few phrases to describe Mike. An empathetic, thought-provoking questioner, who is fascinated by the human condition and what drives human behavior.

Mike’s superpower is the ability to have meaningful conversations with everyone he meets. By sharing openly and vulnerably, Mike organically invites others to see and share the most authentic aspects of themselves— oftentimes for the first time. Meeting with Mike feels akin to catching up with a long-lost dear friend.

Capturing deep, emotional insights and delivering them in the form of compelling stories is his craft. Doing so with thoughtfulness, enthusiasm, and magnetism is his art.

Prior to forming Sweeney Research in 2005, Mike was SVP Ethnographer, at Sterling Group where he led the development of their ethnography offering. Prior to his time at Sterling, he was a senior member of Foote, Cone & Belding’s Mind & Mood research team.

Patsy Kenney

Ethnographic Strategist

Inquisitive, empathetic, nurturing, and forward-thinking are just a few words to describe Patsy. A holistic, creative thinker who always seeks to understand how even the smallest details of our personal stories drive how we behave, connect, and view our place in the world.

She naturally sees the good in people and their possibilities, even if they themselves don’t. Upon meeting Patsy, consumers and clients alike feel as though they’ve known her for years. Turning deep, emotional insights into strategic, actionable ideas is her craft. Doing so with passion, joy, and thoughtfulness is her art.

Prior to Sweeney Research, Patsy held brand and marketing positions at Delta Dental of RI, Bluedog Capital Partners, and Swarovski — and ran a boutique branding agency out of Providence, RI.
