our ethos.

Because we find beauty in the minutiae, we get to what matters.

One senior prom, thousands of Tuesdays.

Understandably, many of us measure our lives based on the big stuff. The significant milestones we reach as we age: senior prom, graduation, attending college or trade school, falling in love, buying a home, advancing in our careers, raising kids, going on family vacations, becoming empty nesters, taking care of aging parents, then down the line, retirement and spoiling the grandkids.

Those are important, memorable milestones. Many filled with joy, some challenging and complex. As we noted, this is the big stuff.  The stories based on these experiences are what we often tell ourselves, and others, when describing who we are and how we think.

Ok, but do these milestones, these highlight reel moments, reveal the complete picture of our lives?

While senior prom is a single, memorable event, we have thousands of average days. It’s the Tuesdays and Thursdays that are filled with the minutiae: dropping kids off at school, picking up coffee, commuting to work, enduring meeting after meeting, deciding what to have for lunch, shopping online, going to the drugstore and a big box supercenter, cooking dinner, helping kids with homework (but it’s new math, ugh), doing laundry, and if there’s time, watching a couple of episodes of a favorite show.

We at Sweeney Research love exploring the Tuesdays and Thursdays. Why? Because these seemingly unforgettable days are filled with beauty. The beauty, and challenge, of connection, everyday decision-making, and living alongside others. While the average Tuesday typically doesn’t make the highlight reel, this is when we most rely on brands, products, and services to help us navigate life. And, how we think and behave on those random Tuesdays and Thursdays set the stage for how we celebrate on Saturday and Sunday!

Because we explore and find beauty in the minutiae, we understand consumers when they are their most authentic selves … we get to what matters.
